My pet project - after sitting on the idea of a fast, raw and noisy surf band for over 10 years, Night Zoo began playing shows in 2018 and released its debut EP, Sports Injuries Of The Space Age in August of 2019. In October 2020, the follow-up EP Night Zoo vs. The Cast Iron Mummy was released, and if you haven't heard it yet, you're a dork and you smell.
I joined MNOP as a bass player in November 2013, and since have become the resident "lead" guitarist. The band is led by Amelia Hazen, who is a gifted songsmith and total class act.
AD has existed since 2002, headed by myself and Nicholas Hogeboom. Now and then, we'll dust it off and give it a spin, and I've always enjoyed the freedom provided with this project. The pressure of taking oneself too seriously is absent, and the ability to indulge in '90's alt-rock guitar tones hits a nerve that only Auntie can satiate.
Abstract audio and video synthesis
Another project led by Nick Hogeboom and I, but a much different dynamic. So far, the formula has been a 100% analog affair, with Nick operating synths and myself on glitch video synthesis. The work is methodical, conceptual and precise. While there are no defined rules or roles, we fall into it rather neatly - GeV is a secret weapon that isn't always active, but when called upon is quite efficient at making a statement.
